We are currently based at the
Five Bells Pub
165/167 East End Road,
East Finchley,
N2 0LZ
(every Tuesday between 2pm and 4pm during term time).
The nearest underground station is East Finchley on the Barnet branch of the Northern Line. The pub is then about a 15 minute walk. Alternatively, you can catch the 143 bus from the station and get off just past the pub at the Trinity Avenue stop on East End Road.
The 102 bus comes to EastFinchley from Edmonton via Muswell Hill: get off at the Fairlawn Avenue stop, just short of the Phoenix Cinema and walk, or stay on one stop to East Finchley station, cross the road and get the 143 bus as above. Coming on the 102 from Brent Cross via Golders Green, you can either get off at East Finchley Station and walk, or get the 143 bus as above.
The 263 bus which runs from Barnet Hospital to Highbury Barn runs along Finchley High Road. Coming from Barnet, get off at the Fairlawn Avenue stop, just short of the Phoenix Cinema and walk, or stay on one stop to East Finchley station, cross the road and get the 143 bus as above. Coming from the South, get off at East Finchley station and catch the 143 bus as above, or go one more stop and walk.
If you come by car there may only be a few spaces in the car park. There are 4 spaces with charging points for electric cars, as well as 2 disabled spaces (the pub is fully accessible). There are parking restrictions between 2pm and 3pm on nearby roads that are on the same side of East End Road as the pub. The roads off East End Road opposite the pub have no restrictions. A good one to try is Hampstead Heights, as there are usually some spaces there and it’s only a five minute walk back to the pub from there.
During lockdown, we continued to run the club on Zoom. This video by our volunteer helper Lynn, shows the sorts of things we got up to in a typical online session during Covid. She shows us an overview about how to start an Instagram account on a mobile phone. Then, during the session, we split ourselves into Android and iPhone groups (in breakout rooms), and went through everything step-by-step until everyone was set up and raring to go! We recorded the Zoom session and it’s on our YouTube Channel. We were intending to make lots of videos about common topics which crop up at club, but somehow never found the time to add many more!
